Scope and Contents

Collection contains 35 mm and 120 mm color slide transparencies, and 35 mm and 120 mm color and black and white negative film documenting City of Dallas governmental facilities, places, people, and events.

Miguel A. Casanova is a Dallas, Texas area photographer and artist. Mr. Casanova was born in 1947 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was educated in Puerto Rico and Texas, studying in the fine arts program at the University of Texas at Arlington. While Casanova considers himself primarily self-taught, his photography skills were also developed during two periods in the United States Army (1969 - 71 and 1975 - 1978). He worked for the City of Dallas in several departments including the Public Works and Transportation Department and the Office of Cultural Affairs and retired in 2005 after 23 years of service. His body of work is found in numerous publications, especially City of Dallas official publications, and in exhibitions.
