Scope and Contents

Collection consists of documents relating to a petition to abandon claim to an alley.  Included in the collection is a copy of the petition to the city, field notes from city, and the ordinance abandoning the alley.

The tract of land, located on Worth Street near Henderson Avenue, was erroneously surveyed as an alley.  Subsequently, the land was improved by the addition of private structures.  W.J. McCray requested a quitclaim deed in order to negotiate the sale of a portion of the property.  A quitclaim deed disclaims any interest the grantor may have in a piece of real estate and passes that claim to the grantee.
