Scope and Contents

The collection consists of legal documents relating to the creation of election precinct 30 in Oak Cliff in 1913.

First settled in the 1840s, Oak Cliff is situated across the Trinity River from the original settlement of Dallas, and was incorporated as the City of Oak Cliff in 1890.  However, the financially burdened city voted in favor of annexation to the City of Dallas in 1903.  The creation of new election precincts stemmed largely from population growth and municipal annexation.

The collection includes the names and addresses of voters in precincts one through ten, as well as precinct twelve.
