Collection consists of the minutes of the Urban Rehabilitation Standards Board between 1958 and 1986.

The Urban Rehabilitation Standards Board (URSB) was a quasi-judicial board responsible for reviewing properties being reviewed for demolition. The City of Dallas established the Urban Rehabilitation Standards Board (URSB) to determine whether property condition reports by city inspectors constitute violations of the City's building code. The board was composed of 30 members (and eight alternates) who were appointed by the Dallas City Council. The URSB could determine, after a hearing, whether a given structure was an “urban nuisance” and take various remedial measures. The URSB was authorized by city ordinance to order repairs, receivership, the closing and vacating of buildings, demolition, and civil penalties up to $2,000 a day against property owners who failed to repair or demolish a structure after a valid determination and order was issued by the board.

The board was created in 1958 as the Housing Standards Board by City of Dallas Ordinance 7609, and its duties enumerated in Dallas City Code Chapter 27, Article II, §27-8. It was dissolved by the Dallas City Council in 2006. Some of the board's duties are now performed by the Department of Code Compliance.

The typescript minutes are contained in twenty 11" x 14" binders, transferred from the board to the Municipal Archives in 1999.
